Back from Winter Break!

We have added several new things to our curriculum this semester! So far I have a feeling they are going to be absolutely perfect :)

Math: Monster is now using RightStart Math A. This is the first week he hasn't complained one bit during math . He loves that is hands-on and no worksheets. We are still working through the first lessons and I will update his progress as we really get in to the program. Tank is still working through Singapore KA whenever she asks for school work. She hasn't asked to have her own work this week, but has sat in on most of Monster`s lessons.

Reading: Monster has now moved in to Level 2 of AAR! He has learned so much and gained so much confidence with this program. I recommend it to every parent teaching their children to read. I am worried that Level 3 may not be out in time for us to use it, but I'm sure he will be in school before or soon after we finish 2. Tank can sound out most CVC words, but we have backed off formal reading instruction until she asks for it . At 3 1/2 I don't want to push any academics.

Handwriting: Monster is now working on learning D`Nealian Handwriting. He hasn't complained about practicing it this week and does a couple pages a day. I know they will work on this in school next year, but I would like for him to know basic formation.

Art: We started a program called Home Art Studio and we finished the first lesson this week. The kids were so excited to finally have a dedicated art time. I admit that I am a neat freak and glue, paint, and glitter are rarely used in my house. However, I know that my kids love those things, so HAS is making it happen.

We were still dealing with sickness left over from last week, but we finished most of what I had planned this week. Hopefully, I will capture some great pictures of the kiddos working next week. Their lessons are so teacher-intensive that it is sometimes very difficult to pull myself away even for just a picture.
